About the Colloquium

 For over 15 years the International Colloquium has brought together researchers in Nonprofit, Arts, Heritage and Social Marketing from all over the world. Much has been achieved during the last 15 years, yet there remains a large amount of exciting fresh territory to be explored.


Colloquium theme


The theme of the 2015 Colloquium is ‘Excellence Rigour and Relevance’ in Nonprofit, Arts, Heritage and Social Marketing. Several issues are worthy of consideration in these respects. How, for example, can excellence be achieved? How is excellence measured? Should excellence be defined in relation to the academic rigour of a piece of research or in terms of its practical relevance? How can rigour and relevance combine to produce excellence in this particular domain?

How to submit an abstract


Submissions addressing issues related to the Colloquium theme are encouraged, although contributions from any other area of Nonprofit, Arts, Heritage or Social Marketing will be equally welcome.


Authors wishing to present a paper at the Colloquium should submit an abstract, which will be made available at the event. Authors responding to this call will be informed of decisions on their acceptance by 3rd July 2015.

All submissions should have a cover sheet that includes the following information:

  • Title of paper
  • Contact person’s name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, telephone number and email address
  • Names, institutional affiliations and email addresses of all other authors

The abstract should be in English and between 750 and 1,500 words in length. Please ensure that the text is in Times New Roman font style, font size 11, with single line (1.0) spacing. A suggested approach would be to include an overview of the theoretical context, research objectives or questions, research methodology, main findings and conclusions. However, we also welcome practitioner papers – the purpose of the abstract is to evaluate the quality and appropriateness of the paper to the intended audience.

All submissions will be subject to a double-blind review process.

Participants are encouraged to draw on the feedback they receive at the Colloquium and to submit papers for consideration for publication in future editions of the International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing (John Wiley), Arts Marketing: An International Journal (Emerald), or Social Marketing (Emerald).


Colloquium fee


The fee for the Colloquium will be £90 for members of the Academy of Marketing and £110 for others. Payment may be made by a cheque drawn on London Metropolitan University or through the University’s online payment system.

Additional details of payment methods will be made available at a later date.

Welcome to the official website of the International Conference on Business Informatics and Modelling. The conference is to be held at Online, Global during October 24-25, 2015. The conference aims to promote the knowledge and the development of high-quality research in Business Informatics and Modelling fields that have to do with the applications of other scientific fields and the modern technological trends that appear in them, these fields being those of Business Informatics, Simulation Modelling, Business Modelling, etc.

All Conference related actions (submission, registration etc) are performed on-line by creating an account. After that, authors can login and have access to a number of tools for submitting a paper, proposing for a workshop, registering, send requests, manage their reviews etc.

useR! 2015 conference in Aalborg: June 30-July 3

The annual R conference bringing together users and developers
from academia and industry is going to be held in Aalborg, Denmark,
this summer, 1-3 July. The day prior to the conference 16 R tutorials
are offered free of charge to the participants. The list of topics include
dplyr, Tessera, Bioconductor, Grid graphics and RHadoop.

In addition to our six invited speakers (Thomas Lumley, Adrian Baddeley,
Di Cook, Steffen Lauritzen, Romain François and Susan Holmes) there will
be organised 29 oral sessions with talks ranging from business, science,
programming and teaching to more broad kaleidoscope presentations.
In addition to these 130+ oral presentations, shorter lightning talks and
posters will make up an interesting programme with R as the main theme!

The social programme of the conference include a welcoming reception
in the newly open House of Music on the waterfront and poster sessions
with drinks and light snacks accompanying the close 100 posters. The
conference dinner will take place in the second largest forest in Denmark,
where competitive games, such as long sawing, axe hurling and archery,
will take place prior to a delicious robbers’ banquet and good drinks.

The early registration deadline is May 10 with registration fees of:
€125 for students, €275 for academics and €425 for industry. After this
deadline an additional €50 (€25 for students) are added to the fee.

The fee includes conference participation, conference t-shirt, meals
and beverages during the conference, welcome reception and poster session.

Paper submissions are invited for the “2015 International Symposium on Cultural Trajectories: Cultural Governance, What’s Next?”, which is to be held at the Graduate School of Arts Management and Cultural Policy at National Taiwan University of Arts from November 13th and 14th (at the International Conference Hall) to November 15th (at Taipei Artist Village) 2015.

In the second half of the 20th century, movements of heritage conservation and political democratization made strong impacts on state cultural policies. Going through dialectic currents of cultural hegemony/counter-hegemony, elitism/pluralism, and the pursuit of civil and social rights, citizens in Taiwan and around the world are now drawing their attentions to the fulfillment of cultural rights. Agents’ (including governments, cultural entrepreneurships, cultural institutions, not-for-profit organizations, and individual art-cultural practitioners) positions on, and engagements in, cultural affairs are shaping the central concerns of cultural governance study today.

Facing the ever complex global cultural scenario, how national/city cultural policies can be reconceptualized to meet the public interests has emerged as a key issue. “What’s Next?” for cultural governance, does not only question the heads of states, the chiefs of national and municipal cultural administrations, but also cultural entrepreneurs and practitioners who intend to engage in public art and cultural affairs. “2015 International Symposium on Cultural Trajectories: Cultural Governance, What’s Next?” is expected to stimulate responses and dialogues for people of various specialties. The following directions will form major themes of the conference:

1. Cultural Policy and Social Participation

After the UK shifted its policy focus to cultural industries in 1997, culture has become a medium to bridge the economic and social goals. 20 years after such a shift, what are the pivotal concerns of governments’ cultural policies today? Between the economic and cultural goals, which triumphs? Can intrinsic cultural values be assigned a critical role? And how can citizens get access to participate fully in the policy-making process? The Symposium asks, what’s the next step for cultural governance and social participation?

2. Cultural Industries and Art Markets

Cultural and creative industries have become the new economic model of the 21st century. Arts and culture combined with technology and commerce are utilized to prompt economic profits. In the 2010s, the US continues to spread its popular culture though Hollywood; Japan asserts its cultural impacts via the prosperous animation and game industries; while the Korea Wave has turned to be another global hit basing on the K-pop, TV series and movies. The branding

of contemporary artists, art auctions, art exhibitions, and cultural entrepreneurships, all contribute to a thriving global art market. Whether art/culture may play a creative and innovative role in the new economy has become the focus of debates. Dialogues of worldwide practitioners in cultural industries and art market will be encouraged in this conference.

3. Strategies for Museums, Exhibitions and Cultural Resources

With the boosting global mega-exhibitions, museums have become important sites for the presentation of public cultural expression. Contemporary museums are expected to engage and respond positively to social demands. And exhibition designs have to meet the audiences’ needs. Cultural resources on the other hand reflect collective memory and cultural identification. They convey symbolic connotations to the public. Since the establishment of museums and the development of cultural resources have become indicators for national development and progress, directions and policies for future development of museums and cultural resources are cardinally invited.

4. International Cultural Relations: New Initiatives in Taiwan, East Asia and Europe

International cultural relations and cultural diplomacy have played a significant role in raising the national cultural profile and soft power. Whilst information technology has shortened the distance of countries, it has underscored in sustaining local cultural characteristics. How do people in Taiwan, East Asia, Europe and the World build mutual understandings through international cultural engagements? Global and local cultural festivals not only shape the personalities of cities, they also prompt regional economic benefits. Yes, can professionals of city planning and marketing present the local cultural image authentically? Discussions on the interactive relations between arts and commerce, power and values, and global and local visions in international cultural engagements and cultural festivals, are invited in the symposium.
